2015

The CoreNet Global UK Chapter Summer Party 2015 was held at The Artillery Garden Marquee at the HAC on 18 June 2015.

The dress theme  - black tie with a hint of beach - was a great success.  Richard Beastall, tpbennett, won the best 'hint of beach' prize.

Charity

During the party there was a collection for Medical Detection Dogs. £5,252 was raised - enough to buy a cancer detection dog.

Medical Detection Dogs is a new, world leading charity who work in partnership with researchers, NHS Trusts and Universities and trains dogs to detect the odour of human disease. The charity helps provide a number of specialist services. It provides dogs for individuals with extreme and life threatening allergies prone to anaphylactic shock, and also trains dogs to detect prostate & breast cancer. Dogs are renowned for their sense of smell and for centuries doctors have known diseases have characteristic odours which dogs may be able to detect. The reason for our submission is that they receive no government funding and rely totally on trusts and public donation and lack of money is slowing their progress. James fosters one of the dogs and is obsessed about the value of early cancer recognition that these dogs provide way in advance of current NHS procedures.
